Kenneth Brannagh‘s Thor is almost a month away – it opens May 6 - and that means we’re going to be hit with the deluge of more and more clips, TV spots and publicity in the build up, starting now. Chris Hemsworth stars as the titular character, along with Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, Idris Elba, and Kat Dennings. The first clip from the film has been made available. Check it out.
Natalie Portman‘s stunt double has suggested that she did much of the dancing in Black Swan, and the non-controversy has been making the gossip rounds – leading to another double to suggest it was her backside in Your Highness. That was mostly debunked, and now Mila Kunis and Darren Aronofsky have stood up to defend Portman and her dance moves. Aronofsky sent out a press release, while Kunis talked to Entertainment Weekly and gave the money quote: “Natalie danced her a** off.”
Everybody’s favorite arthouse Blockbuster hits shelves this week as Natalie Portman’s oscar-winning role in Black Swan dances its way onto DVD. But that’s not all for the art film set. There are two movie so tiny, that you may not even know they exist. Or, you could just enjoy Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi in the kiddie hit Tangled. It’s all for the laser-aided spinning.
But it’s not just movies this week. Finally, we get the return of TV on DVD with HBO’s Treme and AMC’s Mad Men bringing the cable heat.

So what do you do if you’ve just seen an amazing—utterly amazing—film, that is one of the absolute bests in its genre and is so close to perfect that there’s almost no difference? Well, if you work in Hollywood, you pointlessly remake it, that’s what.
Studios have long liked to maintain the illusion that their stars or starlets are doing much of their performing. But when it comes to heavy stunts or nudity sometimes insurance, pride or ability will keep them from giving their all. But this is nothing new. And so after Natalie Portman won an academy award for her performance in Black Swan, her body double Sarah Lane is claiming to Us Magazine that she did almost all of the dancing. Lane also alledges she was told by the studio not to speak out.
As we get closer to the the April 8 release of Your Highness, we’re seeing the marketing for the film kick in to high gear (no pun intended). Recently we’ve seen new posters, a tie-in prequel comic book, and screenings and junkets start shortly for the film. Sunday night, Natalie Portman’s amazing year reached its peak with an Academy Award win for Best Actress thanks to her role in Black Swan. The film was directed by Darren Aronofsky, who was also nominated, and the film itself got a nod for Best Picture of the year.
