Though he took his licks for his public insanity, Tom Cruise is now back as a movie star in Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol. But perhaps more exciting for film geeks is the launch of Brad Bird as a live-action director. The two work together to create a stunning action movie that’s lightweight but filled with all the great action one hopes for in an event film.
Tom Cruise is turning into an adrenaline junkie. It’s no secret that he likes to perform his own stunts in movies, whether they include fight choreography, motorcycle riding, or car chases. He’s currently in Dubai filming the latest installment of his Mission Impossible franchise entitled Ghost Protocol and he’s hanging off the tallest building around — literally.
This must be the week for major franchises to announce their sequel titles. Yesterday we learned that Christopher Nolan’s follow up to The Dark Knight would be called The Dark Knight Rises and today Tom Cruise and Paramount have unveiled the title of the next Mission Impossible. The fourth installment in the series will be called Ghost Protocol. Let that simmer for a bit.

Who will his alter ego Ethan Hunt go up against this time? He might have met his match in Lea Seydoux, who’s been cast as the female villain in the film.

This week has been filled with developments regarding Paramount’s upcoming sequel, Mission Impossible 4. The last time we checked former “Lostie” Josh Holloway had joined the cast and it was announced that production was set to begin in Prague, Dubai, and Vancouver. Speaking of Prague, the first behind the scenes set photos have been discovered and they feature Tom Cruise aka Ethan Hunt doing what he does best — hiding in plain sight.
The Brad Bird production of Mission Impossible 4 just got a whole lot cooler. According to THR, a major casting announcement has been made and it includes “Lost” alum Josh Holloway. That’s right Sawyer aka James Ford will run and shoot alongside Tom Cruise, Jeremy Renner, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, and Paula Patton in the latest installment of the spy franchise.
Sorry Kristin Kreuk fans, Lana Lang won’t be the female lead in the new Mission Impossible sequel. That honor went to Precious star, Paula Patton. Last week, we reported that Patton, Kreuk, and Lauren German had auditioned for the role and Paramount, Tom Cruise, JJ Abrams and the rest of the Mission Impossible 4 gang were weighing their options. Wednesday night they made their decision, and it went in Patton’s favor.
