Miley Cyrus is going to come face to face with her alter ego on “Saturday Night Live.” The young singer/actress will appear on an upcoming episode of the sketch comedy series this spring. With The Super Bowl over, movie goers head back to the theaters this weekend with a slew of new releases all clamoring to claim the top spot. Box Office Titan Adam Sandler attempts to claim the throne with his new romantic comedy Just Go With It, while teen heartthrob Justin Bieber tries to flex some box office muscle with his 3D music documentary Never Say Never. Channing Tatum’s The Eagle ,kid flick Gnomeo and Juliet, and last week’s winner The Roommate all attempt to get a piece of box office pie this weekend as well.

The last time we saw Miley Cyrus on the big screen it was for the Nicholas Sparks sap-fest The Last Song. The film co-starred Liam Hemsworth and centered on love, death and more love. Her newest film entitled LOL, is the exact opposite and is actually a comedy that features the singer/actress working alongside Demi Moore, who plays her mother. The novel writer actually penned the screenplay for this drama, which centers on a troubled teenage girl who reluctantly falls in love when every fiber of being doesn’t want to. Somehow she has the blond haired, blue eyed companionship of a local volleyball player to keep her distracted from her uncomfortable home situation. Out of all the girls in the world, the hottest guy on the beach decides to love the one with the Gothic makeup, nose ring, and the bad attitude. How poetic…

Miley Cyrus is a one woman media machine. For the past few years she’s been at the forefront of one of the most popular kid’s shows of all time, Disney’s “Hannah Montana“, but at the young age of 17 she’s ready to make a change. “Montana” is wrapping up its successful four season run and its star is ready to tackle more mature projects, enter The Last Song.
Cyrus takes on her first dramatic role in the Nicholas Sparks penned film. The author-turned screenwriter is known for his romantic dramas that deal with serious subject matter all in the name of love. For the film, Cyrus had to figure out how to play a good girl gone bad named Ronnie Miller, an 18 year old with a chip on her shoulder and a criminal record. She’s a long way from the Disney channel, and she’s ready to throw away the blond wig to become an older, more serious actress. The question is, can she pull it off?
