Remember the amazing performance that Michael Caine gave in the original version of Get Carter? That film along with Alfie are what made the actor one of the coolest men in entertainment. Sure, he’s Alfred Pennyworth now, but he has a badass past and he’s exposing it to the world. A trailer for his latest film Harry Brown has been released online and it looks like an awesome mix of Get Carter, Taken, and Death Wish.

Well isn’t this a nice surprise? There were rumors that suggested frequent Christopher Nolan collaborator, Michael Caine might star in his top secret film Inception. No official press release or character list featured the actor so we all assumed it was a bunch of hot air. We just got word that Joseph Gordon-Levitt joined the cast, and now perhaps Caine will follow? According to Firstshowing, the actor has confirmed himself as a co-star in the sci-fi feature.

Is Anybody There? is a fantastic, entertaining film brought to you by director, John Crowley (Boy A), and produced by Marc Turtletaub (Little Miss Sunshine), Peter Saraf (Little Miss Sunshine), and David Heyman (Harry Potter). The movie is actually based off of the experiences of the writer, Peter Harness, while he was growing up in an convalescent home.
Is Anybody There? is a touching, funny story of friendship between a retired magician, Clarence (Michael Caine) and a death-obsessed boy, Edward (Bill Milner). The film is set in a convalescent home in a small English town during the late 1980′s. The two characters become unlikely friends after Clarence is forced, by social services, into the old folks’ home, owned by Edward’s parents. The two of them initially have a bit of a rocky start, but that changes once Edward learns Clarence is a magician. Clarence takes Edward on as his awkward little apprentice. Ultimately, the friendship has a dramatic impact upon their lives by causing them to move on from fear, resentment, and guilt to actually be able to enjoy other people.

Time for a sweet, heart-warming film starring Michael Caine as a retired magician. What more do you need? Seriously? He’s one of the greatest actors of our time who has been in top grossing, well respected films for over 50 years. He’s also paired with the one of the most angelic and talented child actors out there, Bill Milner, who was in one of my favorite movies of the past decade, Son of Rambow.
I’ll shut up and let you see what I’m talking about…
