I begin this review with a sigh… Ridley Scott’s latest action-adventure ride Robin Hood starring Russel Crowe and Cate Blanchett has a number of amazing aspects to it, but as a whole it’s just not enjoyable. These are the reviews I hate because I can see the craftsmanship that went into the film and I want to love it, but I don’t. Technically all the pieces are there, it was well made, well put together, but with a run-time of 140 minutes and too many details, it felt like sitting through a partially real history lesson with some amazing action sequences.

Over the past few months we’ve been hearing about Paul WS Anderson’s 3D version of the classic, The Three Musketeers. According to THR, casting is underway and an Oscar winner and a slew of familiar faces have signed on for the film. Expect to see Christoph Waltz, Milla Jovovich, Mads Mikkelsen, Ray Stevenson, Matthew Macfadyen, Luke Evans, and Logan Lerman all in Anderson’s epic adaptation.

When word got out that Russel Crowe would play both Robin Hood and the Sheriff of Nottingham in Ridley Scott‘s 2010 Robin Hood, the film gained an interesting edge.
But sadly, it was recently revealed that Crowe would not playing the sheriff. Instead, Pride and Prejudice actor Matthew Macfadyen will pick up the role, according to fansite Darcylicious. Yes, fansite information can be shady, but Macfadyen’s agent confirmed that the British actor would indeed take the role and that he will appear on set for shooting in May and June.
The movie follows the basic Robin Hood plot with slightly more emphasis on Robin’s early days in King Richard’s army.
