Sacha Baron Cohen may still be stewing over a supporting role in Men in Black 3, but according to Deadline Hollywood he’s already got a part in Martin Scorsese’s latest project. The Oscar winning director has been working on a live action adaptation of the children’s novel, The Invention of Hugo Cabret, and he plans on bringing Cohen, and Shutter Island co-star Ben Kingsley along for the ride.

After his long awaited Oscar win 3 years ago, Martin Scorsese is back behind the camera in his fourth collaboration with his muse Leonardo DiCaprio with Shutter Island. The film was moved back from its original October 2009 release date, due to various marketing strategies and Leo not being able to do any press tours as he was filming Christopher Nolan’s new film Inception. Is this latest collaboration between the two going to match up to Gangs Of New York, The Aviator and the Oscar-Winning The Departed?

“I do the best I can with every movie I make”, was the answer given by Mr Scorsese after being called the “Greatest Living Director” at the Shutter Island Press Conference in London — pretty modest I would say. Martin Scorsese is and always will be the one of the greatest directors to ever hit the film industry. With his career spanning nearly 50 years, he has made some of the most beloved cinematic masterpieces ever created, this includes Goodfellas, Taxi Driver and Raging Bull, finally winning his overdue Best Director Academy Award in 2007 with The Departed, and now he takes on the psychological thriller, Shutter Island.

A few weeks ago, we reported on speculation that Oscar winning director Martin Scorsese would helm an adaptation of the children’s book “The Invention of Hugo Cabret“. The news was chalked up as a rumor because Scorsese’s schedule has been packed with so many projects, including his long awaited Frank Sinatra biopic. But according to Variety, the speculation was true and the director will take on the story of Cabret for his next project.

Last night the film and television community paid tribute to director Martin Scorsese for his work that’s spanned almost 40 years. He was honored by frequent collaborators Robert De Niro and Leonardo DiCaprio with the Cecil B. DeMille award that was given out after a beautiful tribute montage.
