Maggie Gyllenhaal will be hitting theaters this weekend in the family friendly sequel Nanny McPhee Returns as an overworked single mother who needs help with her wild children. According to the actress, her next couple of projects won’t be suitable for young audiences because one will have to do with the invention of the vibrator (yep) and the other is a wild rock n roll romance. During the promotional junket for McPhee Gyllenhaal opened up about her roles in Hysteria and the developing Bill Monroe biopic.

Time for Nanny McPhee Returns a follow up and upgrade from the good ol’ fashioned PG film Nanny McPhee, a series reminiscent of Mary Poppins but for a slightly more modern generation. The cast is definitely enough to get me into the theater, Emma Thompson, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Rhys Ifans, Ewan McGregor, Ralph Fiennes and Maggie Smith – at least you know that the performances will be well done! And who can resistant the charming Thompson even when she has a tooth jutting out of her face? Apparently, Thompson also had a hand in adapting the children’s book “Nurse Matilda” written by Christianna Brand for the big screen, and this installment is directed Susanna White. Female power!

Fox Searchlight has become one of the main distributors of quality independent films within the last few years. It’s no surprise that they have recently acquired a the much buzzed about film, Crazy Heart. According to Variety, Searchlight paid seven figures to own the distribution rights to the film that stars Maggie Gyllenhaal, Jeff Bridges, Colin Farrell, and Robert Duvall.
