Just in time for the Oscar host fallout, come Anne Hathaway’s and James Franco’s big movies this year. That’s gotta make us think of them as movie stars again and anything they did on Oscar night will now fade into oblivion? Right. Okay, maybe not – but you can still check out 127 Hours and Love & Other Drugs this week.
But that’s not all. No, not even close. That’s because we have the inimitable Burlesque hitting the shelves. Inimitable because nobody would ever want to make a movie like that again. Plus, The Rock in Faster. And somehow, neither of those are the worst DVD this week.

Despite my inherent tendency for unrelenting cynicism I hold a tiny place in my heart for solid rom-coms. Supporters of the genre should be pleased with Ed Zwick’s latest picture, Love And Other Drugs, and it’s possible he’ll sufficiently peak the interest of my fellow cynics. Starring the always pleasant Anne Hathaway and a swoon-worthy Jake Gyllenhaal, this unconventional tale of love in it’s various forms opens nationwide this Wednesday.

Next weekend, Oscar nominees Anne Hathaway and Jake Gyllenhaal will return to the big screen in Love and Other Drugs. It will mark the duo’s first project together since their acclaimed performances as husband and wife in 2005′s Brokeback Mountain. In honor of such an event, they both appear on the latest cover of Entertainment Weekly in the buff. Apparently, nudity is a recurring theme in the film and the actors decided to stick with it for the magazine. Last week we posted the first trailer for Ed Zwick’s latest dramedy, Love and Other Drugs and today another one has been released. This version goes more in depth with the story and gives us a better idea of what’s going on. We know that the “love” part has to do with Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway, and here we finally get a look at the “drug” in the title. I can see Anne Hathaway and Jake Gyllenhaal reuniting for another Ang Lee film, but why for Ed Zwick? How does he get such amazing actors? I found Defiance insulting. He took an interesting script and turned into such an overly cliched WWII film that it felt sarcastic. Every choice he made from the shots to the music were manipulative and worst of all he tried so hard to make you care about the story that you didn’t care at all! The story was powerful, you had the best actors, why did you have to kill it?
Yet, for some reason he attracts stars like Sean Penn, Leonardo DiCaprio, Daniel Craig, Liev Schreiber and now Hathaway and Gyllenhaal for his upcoming film Love and Other Drugs. Even the frickin’ title is manipulative! It seems like most of his films are either a hit or a miss.
