We’re so heavy on the sequels it’s almost satirical this week, as three different sequels hit DVD, including two threequels. Yes, both the third part of the Fockers saga and The Chronicles of Narnia’s (remember that) third chapter invade your home this week alongside the long-gestating sequel to Tron.
This comes alongside two incredibly small arthouse films with big stars and the final season of one of the best Dramas of the last ten years. Plus, the return of Clueless star Elisa Donovan!

This weekend, Natalie Portman was able to capitalize on the buzz generated from her Golden Globe win as her new film No Strings Attached opened at number 1 as we predicted .The Green Hornet showed a decent hold coming in at number 2, also as we predicted, dropping less then 50% ,while the The Dilemma fell to number 3.

It’s 2011 folks! Time for new beginnings and… wait, there’s no new movies, at least not on the top 10. Even though everyone seemed to take a break from Blue Valentine and Another Year this past weekend, the Little Fockers was still hard at work. The Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro movie exceeded $100k during the new year weekend with Yogi Bear and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader right behind it.
It seems that studios were right to rely on a large, built in fan bases. Check out this weekends box office numbers to see…

Many thought Little Fockers (movie review) would be a huge mistake, and that it may have been for the critics but not the piggy bank. The third movie in the Meet the Parents franchise brought in over $34 million this Christmas weekend. The Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro movie was followed by the new Coen’s western True Grit (movie review). Unfortunately Tron Legacy wasn’t intriguing enough to keep up it’s number one spot even before it made back half its money, people must be a bit disappointed.

Jack and Greg go at it again for a third round in the Meet the Parents film series. The first movie debuted 10 years ago and was filled with laughs and quotables like “I have nipples. Greg, can you milk me?” But its follow up Meet the Fockers was disappointing and showed us what happens when you have too much of a good thing, therefore Little Fockers is nothing more than a lesson in cinematic overkill.

It’s amazing what a little bad buzz can do for an actor’s career. In this case, it’s had a reverse effect for Oscar winner Dustin Hoffman who after weeks of speculation will reprise his role as Ben Stiller’s father in Little Fockers. Originally, his character had been written out but according to a report from EW, he’s been written back in!

Just when you thought you were done with the Meet the Parents franchise they pull you back in. The marketing for the third installment Little Fockers is just getting started. The film won’t open in theaters until December so we’ve got several more months to endure all the trailers, posters, and photos. An international trailer has just been released and it’s slightly funnier than the previous one, which isn’t exactly a hard feat. See for yourself…

The marketing campaign for Little Fockers doesn’t bring anything new to the table. Robert De Niro and Ben Stiller are still at each other’s throats, Blythe Danner is still flighty, Teri Polo is still clueless, and Owen Wilson is still…unnecessary. A new poster has been released for the third film in the Meet the Parents series and it’s pretty, damn boring. Seriously, we’ve seen this sh*t before. Don’t take my word for it, see for yourself…
