In January, we told you that Kiefer Sutherland was still insisting that the 24 movie adaptation was going to happen “all objective evidence appears to indicate that the film does not exist, has not existed, and is currently not even in preproduction.” Well, it turns out it was in development, but now that Sutherland is going back to work on the second season of Touch, development has been delayed. And because Fox smells a franchise, it looks like we may be facing a 24 trilogy in the future.

Despite the fact that Kiefer Sutherland has been insisting for years that a film adaptation of his popular 24 TV series is happening (while all objective evidence appears to indicate that the film does not exist, has not existed, and is currently not even in preproduction), Sutherland has once again announced that 24: The Movie is coming soon. This time, he’s swearing that it’s happening in April.

Kiefer, buddy, look—we all dug Jack Bauer, and sure, it was fun to watch you tickle the line between saving the free world and literally blowing your nose with the constitution and then using it as a wad to hold your gum when you’re done, but come on—it just doesn’t look like the 24 movie is gonna happen, ok? And I say this knowing full well you’d pistol-whip me if you were here, and then run away while shouting into your cell phone, but no amount of telling the gals on The View that 24: The Movie is still happening will make this work.

Kiefer Sutherland isn’t giving up on the big screen adaptation of “24.” After the series cancellation last year, it’s hard not to notice the vacancy left by the show in the primetime line up. We were told that the series would hit the big screen as a major motion picture produced by 20th Century Fox, but when the first script was delivered the studio turned it down. Therefore, we were left in limbo wondering if Jack will ever be back! According to his portrayer, Sutherland says the film is still moving full speed ahead despite its many roadblocks.

Will they or won’t the make the 24 movie? That’s the question that fans of the defunct Fox series have been asking themselves ever since its cancellation last spring. The last we checked, the studio had rejected a feature script that was submitted by the producers, which made the movie seem less likely to happen.
