Everytime I see Justin Long I want to burst into laughter. Not because he’s weird looking or anything, but because he’s been featured in some of my favorite comedies. According to THR, the actor is about to make a serious shift to drama in Robert Redford’s highly publicized, The Conspirator.

There just isn’t a shortage of Michael Cera coming of age comedies out there is it? A trailer has just been released for Youth in Revolt. It’s a film by Miguel Iterta, and co-stars Zach Galifianakis, Justin Long, and newcomer Portia Doubleday. For the most part it’s that same deadpan comedy that we know and love, with a touch of romance and a dash of multiple personality disorder. Believe me, it looks crazier than it sounds. You can view the trailer below.

If you were a fan of Christina Applegate’s now defunct TV comedy Samantha Who, here’s some semi-decent news for you. The show is still canceled, but the actress got another job. According to Yahoo News, Applegate has just signed on to co-star in the upcoming romantic comedy, Going the Distance. She will be joining It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia star Charlie Day and the two headliners Drew Barrymore and Justin Long.

A movie within a movie. Clever. FunnyorDie has just released a new clip from Judd Apatow’s upcoming comedy Funny People starring Adam Sandler, Seth Rogen, and Leslie Mann. In the film, Sandler plays commedian George Simmons, whose job has resulted in mindless, slap-stick comedy, and who has just been diagnosed with cancer. Aside from the canecr part, this is definitely something Sandler can relate to.
The clip from Re-Do, starring Sandler’s character in the film Simmons and Justin Long, is not unlike some of the recent trailers that we’ve seen Sandler in. I don’t think You Don’t Mess with the Zohan had any more of a beliavable premise than Re-Do.

So normally we wouldn’t be able to post this review until next week, but due to the film premiering in Cannes, they’ve allowed us to release our review early…
Finally! A horror film I actually enjoyed watching! Suspense, blood, and even comedy, without all the ridiculous over the top gore that the Saw-like films have taken over the genre with. For any of you who are fans of the Evil Dead series, Drag Me to Hell has plenty of throw backs to Sam Raimi’s earlier works and styles. For those of you who don’t know the series, don’t worry, you don’t need to know his work to enjoy it, but be prepared to get a education on what a great horror film entails.

I just came across this exclusive regarding Sam Raimi’s theatrical poster for his upcoming horror film, Drag Me to Hell. It’s been a while since I was blown away by a movie poster, but this one got my attention. It features Alison Lohman trying to fight off a group of demon hands from well, “dragging her to hell.” The tagline is “Christine Brown has a good job, a great boyfriend, and a bright future. But in three days, she’s going to hell.” That sounds horrible! But it makes for good horror. I like this image a lot, but that’s just my twisted opinion. You can check out the full poster for yourself after the jump. Continue Reading

My favorite Mac guy Justin Long is getting his time to shine by headlining his latest project. Long was last seen in the romantic comedy ensemble He’s Just Not That in to You, where he had a supporting role alongside Jennifer Aniston and Ben Affleck. According to Variety the actor has just signed on to star in the film Going the Distance. The film is another romantic comedy that will be centered on Long’s character as he struggles to make a long distance relationship work.

Well, well! We saw some of the photos for this film months ago and finally after all this time we get the trailer for Sam Raimi’s horror flick, Drag Me to Hell. The film stars Alison Lohman, Justin Long, and a REALLY creepy old lady. Although Raimi is commonly associated with the Spiderman trilogy, his true roots are in horror; The Gift, Evil Dead I and II, and my favorite Army of Darkness. It’s about damn time he gave Spidy a break and got back to what he’s genuinely amazing at.
Check out his new trailer below…

So what’s the deal with this film? They’ve had trouble getting it into theaters for the past 2-3 years which makes me a little apprehensive. It’s either a great movie that has had trouble finding a market or it’s a bad movie that someone has finally decided to take on, knowing that they’ll make back their expenditures in DVD sales. So let’s look at what this film has going for it.
The film has been screened at the Toronto Film Festival, the Tribeca Film Festival, Fantastic Fest, and many other festivals over the past two years, and has won three awards along the way including one for Best Feature and another for Beat Animated Feature. It was originally titled Terra but has now been named Battle for Terra. Perhaps that will help it sell? And if nothing else it has a really impressive cast with voices by Evan Rachel Wood, Brian Cox, Luke Wilson, David Cross, Justin Long, Amanda Peet, Dennis Quaid, Chris Evans and more.
Sounds pretty good until you hear that the writer also wrote The Nutty Professor. Scary.
