Disney has gotten their hooks into Jon Favreau for the big screen adaptation of the Magic Kingdom (as in the huge centerpiece of Disneyland). If they can make Pirates of the Caribbean a movie, why can’t they do the same for the place that’s served as the logo of the studio for decades? According to Heat Vision, Favreau has finalized a deal for the project, and they’re just awaiting completion of the screenplay.

After seeing the heavy handed influence The Avengers had on this spring’s Iron Man 2 it looked like Tony Stark would be the anchor character to join all the new Marvel movies together. But director and producer Jon Favreau recently appeared on a local Los Angeles radio show to clear up any rumors regarding an Iron Man cameo in Captain America or Thor.

Now that Iron Man 2 has come and gone, director Jon Favreau can focus on his next summer blockbuster Cowboys & Aliens. The film is a sci-fi/western hybrid that centers on exactly what the title suggests…cowboys and aliens. It will star Daniel Craig as the main gunslinger along with Indiana Jon– we mean Harrison Ford. Not long ago we attended the press conference for Iron Man 2, which was basically Robert Downey Jr.‘s chance to show off a unique hybrid between himself and Tony Stark. Not only did he dominate the stage, the questions, and everyone elses answers, but at one point he literally “held” the press conference together – but more on that below. In attendance along with Downey was the director Jon Favreau, writer Justin Theroux, producer Kevin Peige and cast members Gwyneth Paltrow, Scarlett Johansson, Mickey Rourke, and Don Cheadle (sadly no Sam Rockwell who absolutely rocked the film).

It’s time! Iron Man 2 is about to hit theaters! Jon Favreau and Robert Downey Jr. are back with another installment in their witty, yet action packed franchise. There has been so much anticipation for this film since its trailer debuted (which we sweded) last summer at Comic-Con. The sequel is a solid follow up that comes through with everything you would anticipate from Iron Man, but don’t expect to walk out of the theater with the same “wow” feeling you had after the first film. This is a whole different beast…

It’s no secret that Marvel didn’t originally want Robert Downey Jr. to play Iron Man because they weren’t sure if he could get asses in the seats. Director Jon Favreau on the other hand was more concerned with finding someone who had the right amount of charisma and attitude to make the character a likeable badass. Since Downey is the living personification of liquid cool you’d think Favreau would have noticed him right away but apparently he wasn’t his first choice either.
