At a time when advertising for films is so bankrupt and bereft of ideas that we’re forced to watch trailers for upcoming trailers, there’s something quite refreshing about a movie preview that is not only more clever and creative than the other ads around it, but almost seems sharper than some of the entire films that play after it. Such is the case with the House at the End of the Street trailer, which features Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence. The trailer plays like a two minute version of Memento, starting at the end of the film, and working its way back to the beginning. Check it out below.

After getting an Oscar nomination for her work in Winter’s Bone, Lawrence was obviously a talent to keep an eye on, but now with her starring role in The Hunger Games she’s the lead of a huge blockbuster franchise. When a book becomes a phenomenon, its film adaptation is all but assured. And though The Hunger Games didn’t hit the ground running as a phenomenon, we’re now at a point where the books are everywhere, and the film is looking at opening to over a hundred million. Thank goodness then that Gary Ross‘s adaptation for the big screen is good – it’s one of the best blockbusters we’ve seen in quite some time. And it’s going to make Jennifer Lawrence into a movie star.

Lionsgate Films has released a new trailer for the upcoming The Hunger Games franchise in celebration of the fact that there are now only 50 days left until the film’s release. The new trailer, though only one minute long, tosses out a barrage of new footage, focusing mainly on the relationship between Jennifer Lawrence’s Katniss and her sister, Primrose.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock lately—or maybe you’ve just been forced to participate in a post-apocalyptic game show in which you and 11 other teenagers battle each other to the death for the entertainment of the masses –you’ve heard of The Hunger Games, the film adaptation of the Suzanne Collins novel in which, well, see above. The film stars Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss, a teen who takes part in the brutal games, and is set for release on March 23rd via Lionsgate Films.

The X-Men are back with their latest edition X-Men: First Class, a prequel to all of the other X-men films showing us the origins of the gang. Rest assured that walking into this film you can spit out the awful taste of Wolverine and be excited take everything First Class has to offer. The quite film obviously has a much stronger script, they managed to gather a stellar cast of real actors, and did a brilliant job of controlling the chaos that comes with so many story-lines and characters that make the X-Men films so great. Though I’m not quite as keen as some of my fellow critics on this film, there’s not doubt that this is a great summer film and quite possible the best action film you’ll see this year (though I’d love to be disproved).
