After last weekend’s solid July 4th box office, Transformers: Dark Of the Moon will look to retain it’s spot on top of the box office, while Kevin James kid flick The Zookeeper, and the Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis, comedy Horrible Bosses, and holiday leftovers all compete for box office dominance.
Last weekend Shia Labeouf and CO opened Transformers:Dark Of The Moon to strong box office receipts domestically and internationally. While the sequel didn’t break any box office records for the series it did receive solid cinema score grades, an increase in sales from friday-saturday, and strong weekday grosses. With no real direct completion this weekend, look for Transformers to hang on to the #1 spot.

The Farrelly brothers are back with their latest collaboration Hall Pass. The film stars Owen Wilson, who’s once again headlining a male-driven comedy that features its fair share of juvenile antics. Going into this you might think that you’re in for a treat. The combination of Wilson and the Farrellys should yield amazing results, but unfortunately it doesn’t. This Friday, Owen Wilson and Jason Sudeikis will go where no married man has gone before — the promised land. They’ll have unprecedented freedom in their latest film Hall Pass, where they play a couple of horny husbands who push their wives to the brink with their oversexualized behavior. The duo are given a week off from marriage to do what they want, with who they want, with no repercussions.

Next weekend Owen Wilson returns to his hound dog ways in the comedy Hall Pass. The film is directed by the legendary Bobby and Peter Farrelly and over on IGN, they’ve posted a new red band trailer for the film. That means a good chunk of the raunchier jokes are used and you might see some vomit or poo at any point. Be careful….

Damn! And here I thought this film had promise. I really hope that this is just a bad trailer and not a real representation of the film that was supposed to be a realistic romantic comedy. Going the Distance stars the on-again-off-again-real-life couple Drew Barrymore and Justin Long and is by first time feature film director Nanette Burstein and was written by first time/Black List writer Geoff LaTulippe.
They do have quite a promising supporting cast, aside from our two lead characters the film co-stars Christina Applegate, Jason Sudeikis, Ron Livingston, Kelli Garner (who was so adorable in Lars and a Real Girl) and my favorite “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’s,” Charlie Day.

Already in the works is Bounty Hunter, an action-comedy film starring Jennifer Aniston and Gerard Butler– interesting, I wonder what that will produce with funny man Sudeikis in the mix. And now, the 33 year-old is signed to appear in Nanette Burstein’s comedy Going The Distance, starring Drew Barrymore and Justin Long, alongside Christina Applegate and Charlie Day.
