This week Hop springs into theaters. Directed by Alvin and the Chipmunks‘ Tim Hill, and starring James Marsden and the voice of Russell Brand, this kids film tries to play both to adults and children alike. It’s also a film that tries to create a mythology for Easter – not one based on the resurrection of Christ but one that gives something of a history and plan for the holiday. Check our review below…

This week in theaters James Marsden stars in Hop, the story of how a man became an Easter Bunny. James Marsden stars as the would-be bunny, who becomes friends with E.B. (voiced by Russell Brand), who is supposed to become the new Easter Bunny, but wants to be a drummer instead. Marsden has had a number of careers, as a TV star, as Cyclops in the hit franchise X-Men, and more recently he’s been an ace comic performer wtih a number of supporting turns in films like Enchanted and Hairspray. We talked about Hop, and some of his possible future and past projects, along with how his children have influenced his career. We also talk about his rumored involvement in the upcoming Three Stooges movie.

Though he was recently in discussions and considered the front runner, according to The Hollywood Reporter it’s now official: Will Sasso has now landed the part of Curly in The Farrelly Brothers Three Stooges film for Twentieth Century Fox. Now it’s rumored that Hank Azaria and James Marsden will fill out the lead roles, according to Deadline Hollywood. As shooting was rumored to start in March, perhaps once the two other roles get cast, it will go into production shortly thereafter.

HOP TRAILER – Easter’s on the way and with it comes the tale of a fluffy little bunny trying to follow his dream — to become a drummer. Hop mixes a number of different ideas and styles – there are number of adult ideas (including some different types of Hollywood bunnies) with a sweet, kiddy story and a mixture of art animation with live action. Seems like it’s taking it all on at once! Will it be amazing or will it be bunny droppings (which are in the trailer not suprirsingly – nothing like a but of poo humor)? Two actors with sparkling eyes and killer smiles are teaming up for a new film called Loft. According to Variety, James Marsden and Patrick Wilson have signed on to star in the thriller together. Brace yourself, it’s a remake, but a remake of Belgian film from 2008, so it’s hacky but not too hacky (if that makes sense).

Over at Empire they’ve premiered the international teaser poster for Richard Kelly‘s upcoming thriller, The Box. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on November 9th in the U.S., and December 4th in the U.K. The Box stars Cameron Diaz, James Marsden, and Oscar nominee Frank Langella as the man without a face. Just kidding, that’s not his character’s name, even though it would be fitting.
