A coming-of-age-classic gets the full remake treatment this week as The Karate Kid roars into theaters with a reboot that throws the traditional coming-of-age plotline against the epic backdrop of China and amidst the thrilling world of Kung Fu. With its adventurous scope and thrilling fight scenes, this film connects much more than it misses. Even if it overstays its welcome a little bit.

More photos have hit the net from the upcoming Sony remake of The Karate Kid, which is also known as The Kung Fu Kid. The film stars Jaden Smith as the title character and Jackie Chan as his mentor. We all loved the original 1984 film that featured Ralph Macchio and Pat Morita so this will be a hard remake for a lot of people to swallow.

Yesterday, we brought you a few photos of Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith on the set of their new film, The Kung-Fu Kid. The film is a remake of 1984′s The Karate Kid, and features the same premise set in a different location. Over at /Film, they’ve gotten a hold of the old art and title for the new film that features Smith doing an impressive high kick. This was obviously created before the official renaming of the movie from the Karate to The Kung-Fu Kid.

A few set photos have been released from the upcoming reimagining of the eighties classic The Karate Kid. The new film entitled, The Kung Fu Kid, stars Jaden Smith in the lead role as a troubled youth, and Jackie Chan as his martial arts mentor, Mr. Han. Over at SpoilerTV they’ve posted several photos of what looks like an intense training session between student and teacher.
One things for sure, Chan is no Mr. Miyagi.

Not only is The Karate Kid remake still happening, but it’s already begun production. So many people have been against this film since the day it was announced, but it’s too late now. According to Hollywood Outbreak, the remake of the 1984 cult classic is underway and has been officially renamed, The Kung Fu Kid. Luckily, the change in title not only further separates it from the original, but it actually makes a lot more sense in the long run.
