“House” has been on a roll lately, with a season that has allowed major characters to make serious progress in their lives. So, when we get an episode where nothing too major happens, we’re bound to feel a little disappointed. Maybe they can’t all be realistic-yet-inspiring studies of human nature, but they can at least be entertaining, and while this episode had its moments, it wasn’t a home-run by any means.

Forget the “medical mystery” story that provides the background for every episode; “House” is a successful show because it proves that we can all enjoy character-based drama. Sure, some of its insights aren’t as deep as we would like them to be, but in an age where every other show is a generic cop drama, we’ll take what we can get. And damn, when we get it, it is good. This week’s “House” is one to remember. Read the review to find out why…

“House” has to play a balancing act every week. We know there will be a main plot involving a mysterious illness that we tend to be semi-interested in; but we need an emotional anchor to hook us, and usually that comes in the form of one of the subplots. This week was one of the nice exceptions where the show was firing on all cylinders, with both the main plot and the subplot sucking us in, and while the episode was far from perfect, it still exemplified why “House” is a great show. “House” returns from a holiday hiatus with a pretty run-of-the-mill episode. That’s not exactly a bad thing, since a decent episode of “House” is uually better than a good episode of a lot of other other shows, but after such a long break, fans were probably expecting something a little more compelling. The men of Princeton-Plainsboro contend with the most difficult puzzle of all this week: wives and girlfriends. House needs to prove to Cuddy that he can be trusted, Taub needs to prove to himself that his wife can be trusted, and Wilson makes a big decision that doesn’t go over too well. Ignore the plot about the patient whose faith gets in the way of treatment; that’s old ground for “House.” The real stories worth paying attention to this week are the romantic subplots, and some work more than others.

Male viewers, you can stop mourning the departure of Olivia Wilde. Another beautiful young woman joins the cast of “House” in this week’s episode until Wilde returns. This week celebrates Election Day! Which is actually a week late, but oh well, at least they were thinking about it. In typical “House” fashion, we are faced with questions of morality and secrets among the team. Check out the review to see what we thought…

The subject of parenting dominates this week’s episode of “House,” creating conflict for the doctors both inside and outside the hospital. The search for Thirteen’s replacement continues, with the responsibility now falling to Foreman and Taub. Overall, this week was not House’s finest, but it had its moments.
Check it out in this weeks episode below.

Like many shows, “House” hits a lull every now and then, and that’s exactly what happened with this week’s episode entitled, “Massage Therapy.” While nothing too interesting happened among the major characters (saved for some natural House/Cuddy developments), it was a fairly entertaining hour of TV thanks to a mysterious diagnosis that challenged the team. The great thing about “House” is that even though you couldn’t care less about bizarre diseases and mystery diagnoses, you’ll get hooked by its thoughtful take on human psychology and emotions. Last night’s episode took us into the heart of a person who desperately wants to die, and handled the material with great sensitivity. Check out the review…
