It’s been confirmed more than once that Black Swan helmer Darren Aronofsky will direct Hugh Jackman in the X-Men Origins sequel, The Wolverine. Over the past few weeks, 20th Century Fox has been courting Darren Aronofky to direct their upcoming sequel, Wolverine 2. The movie is a follow up to the commercially successful but critically panned X-Men Origins: Wolverine from 2009. Over the last few days, it seems that Aronofsky has been inching closer and closer to the project. He even turned down an offer from Warner Bros to direct Tales From The Gangster Squad. According to Wolverine star and producer Hugh Jackman, Aronofsky will direct him in the sequel and that’s straight from the horses mouth!

We never thought we’d say this, but Hugh Jackman should step away from the role of Wolverine for a while. In all seriousness, he played the guy for a decade and we love him for it but X-Men Origins: Wolverine proved to fans of the character and the X-Men mythology that they don’t know what the hell they’re doing. Jackman must really want to redeem the hero because he’s just pulled out of a starring role in a film called Avon Man to go into training for Wolverine 2. Yes, Wolverine 2 is still happening.
