Coming a full four years after the show should have ended (honestly, the show hasn’t been great since season three, and ran out of stories entirely by season four), House is finally coming to a finish at the end of the current season (we’re in the middle of season eight, in case you’re not keeping track). After eight years of desperately trying to find plotlines to match the superb acting skills of Hugh Laurie, and a full four years of limping onward (pardon the pun) simply because the show makes money, the show’s producers have decided to call it quits.

Still going strong eight seasons in, when most other shows become sad mockeries of themselves, “House” may no longer seem as fresh as it did a few years ago, but it’s still got something to say, and it does so in an entertaining style. This week’s episode is a little heavy on the “you won’t possibly believe what twist we have in store for you this time” effect that the promos for the series always aim for, but its focus on character more or less makes up for that.
