The fact that 20th Century Fox is moving forward with a sequel to the 2007 film Hitman has us confused. The last time we checked the movie wasn’t that great. The only good thing to come from it was Timothy Olyphant and we’re not even sure if he’s returning for the sequel. According to Deadline, the studio has hired a director to helm the second film in the series based on the video game of the same name.

Here’s some directing news for you this morning, remember the 2007 adaptation of the popular video game, Hitman? The film was directed by Xavier Gens and according to Screendaily he will helm another action packed project entitled, The Fallout. The feature will be a post-apocalyptic thriller set in New York.

We haven’t heard much about the feature film adaptation of the popular video game Kane & Lynch. The last time I checked, they were still in the early pre-production stages for the film. A script hadn’t been finalized, and no one was set to star, but according to IGN all of that has changed. The film is ready to start production, and Lionsgate has managed to get Bruce Willis to sign on to play one of the lead characters.

Did I miss something? Was Hitman an amazing movie that gained critical and commercial success throughout it’s two week run in theaters? I didn’t think so, but apparently you don’t need crazy things like profit or praise to warrant making another film. According to FirstShowing, a writer has been hired to pen a follow up to 2007′s Hitman, and I have absolutely no idea why.

Golden Globe nominee, Leonardo DiCaprio is in negotiations to star in the new crime, thriller entitled Beat the Reaper. According to Variety, New Regency is in the process of purchasing the rights for the book of the same name, from which the film will be based.
The protagonist in the novel penned by Josh Bazell is a Manhattan emergency room doctor, whose life becomes complicated when a mobster recognizes the doc from his former life as a hitman who went into the witness protection program.
