Who likes cool stuff on sale? I know I do. Who likes it when you can be lazy enough that you don’t even have to go anywhere to buy cheap stuff? Blu-Ray discs are typically pretty expensive, but with Christmas coming up you can expect lots of sales and Amazon is always a good website to start with. So, we made a handy little list with some recent movies including, Up!, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, The Hangover, Star Trek, and District 9.

This week, Judd Apatow‘s Funny People hits theaters, and since Harry Potter has already been knocked off the number one spot, it seems like there is no doubt that Apatow will dominate the box office.
Last week, G-Force took the number one spot making over $30 million on its opening weekend, while Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince came in second, grossing $29.5 million. It was a surprise to see Harry Potter off the top so fast, but perhaps the opening of Harry Potter on IMAX this week will boost ticket sales. Regardless, if the wizards make more or not with the help of IMAX, Funny People has a good chance of making the most and knocking the kid-flick G-Force off the top of the chart.

You already know all you need to know about Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, but that being said, there are a lot of othergood films coming out this weekend. Two movies that are eye-catch-y are Marc Webb’s (500) Days of Summer with Joseph Godon-Levitt and Boaz Yakin’s film Death in Love featuring Josh Lucas. The first of which is quite possibly the most fun and romantic film you’ll see all year, the other, it’s probably the most graphic. So hey, whatever you’re into!

There is no doubt that the Harry Potter franchise has been very successful at the box office. Even when first Harry Potter was debuted in 2001, it was able to pull in more than $300 million. This year, the latest Harry Potter film Half-Blood Prince is expected to do better.
According to Variety, midnight screenings for the Half Blood Prince reached new heights. That’s right, the wizards beat-out Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and The Dark Knight (the previous record holder) for the top grossing midnight screenings of all time – earning $22.2 million.

Through the years we have watched the three stars of the Harry Potter movies grow up. Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter), Emma Watson (Hermoine), and Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley), all went from little kids fighting over wizardry to saving people, going on dates, and doing all sorts of normal, teenager activities. It seems like only now that their maturity so noticeable. We thought it would be fun to see how these stars have grown since the first movie came out in 2001 until the present day, so we made a huge gallery charting them from Sorcerer’s Stone in 2001 to todays Half-Blood Prince.

When the popular Harry Potter franchise first started, all of the child actors were complete unknowns. Over the years, the world has watched them evolve from cute little kids into seemingly well-adjusted young adults. There is something magical about this trio, they have all avoided crotch shots, pictures of them puking outside of bars, DUIs and the rest of that nonsense. Not only that, but they have all evolved into a talented group of actors who might actually have a chance at a career. With the end of the series quickly approaching, the question is, will they be able to transform from child stars into working adult actors?

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is not coming out for another 8 days (July 15) and yet it is already on pace to outsell Transformers for advance ticket sales. The film already represents 61% of daily ticket sales according to Fandango, the nation’s leading moviegoer destination. As if fans need more of a reason to get advance sale tickets, Fandango, as a bonus, if giving every Harry Potter advance ticket buyer a free music download of the song Friends and Love, from the film’s soundtrack.

The IMAX debut of Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince will be delayed two weeks due to Transformer’s four week IMAX contract (read full story). On July 15th, the day the movie is released to the public, the film will only be able to be seen in three IMAX theaters; AMC Century City 15 (in Los Angeles), Henry Crown OMNIMAX (in Chicago), and AMC Loews Lincoln Square (in New York), everyone else will have to wait and suffer or watch and wonder.
The opening 12 minutes of Potter were converted to IMAX 3D, just like the final battle in the last movie that was in 3D. The movie was MEANT to be seen in 3-D.
So, now it’s your turn to weigh in on the matter….
