Garry Marshall’s romantic comedy Valentine’s Day continues to haunt us with the follow up entitled New Year’s Eve. It makes you wonder if we’re going to go through all the holidays at some point. The film will have an ensemble cast that currently includes Robert De Niro, Hilary Swank, Michelle Pfeiffer, Sofia Vergara, Jessica Biel, Lea Michele, Abigail Breslin, and yes, Ashton Kutcher is back. At the 2009 BET Awards, Oscar winner Jamie Foxx was the host and offered plenty of comedic skits throughout the night, but one in particular really struck a chord with the audience. Foxx prerecorded a fake movie trailer with fellow comedian turned actor Martin Lawrence for a film called The Skank Robbers. It featured their famous “he-she” alter egos Wanda (“In Living Color”) and Sheneneh (“Martin”). The video was such a hit that it’s actually being turned into a real film co-starring Halle Berry!

A week ago news broke that the multi-talented Tyler Perry would direct his first feature film that’s not based on his own work. Perry will adapt the 1975 stage play entitled, For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When The Rainbow Is Enuf. It was originally written by Ntozake Shange, and features a series of monologues based on the colors of the rainbow. According to Latino Review Perry recently teased that the film will feature a “dream cast” of talent, which would include African American and Latina women.

Academy Award winning actress Halle Berry is in negotiations to star in the action thriller Dark Tide. According to Variety, the film will be directed by Clark Johnson from a screenplay by Amy Sorlie. If the name Clark Johnson sounds familiar, its because he’s the guy behind the 2003 big screen adaptation of S.W.A.T., which starred Samuel L. Jackson and Colin Farell. - Columbia Pictures will present, The Smurfs Movie next week in Las Vegas at the Licensing International Expo 2009. The screenplay for the movie adaptation of the hit cartoon series was written by David Stern and Davie Weiss. The movie is planned to be released on December 17th, 2010. (ComingSoon)
- Halle Berry is in talks to do a new movie titled, The Surrogate. It will be the star’s first time back since 2007′s Perfect Stranger with Bruce Willis. The new movie is about a couple who hire a surrogate to have their baby and mid-way through the pregnancy, they find out their surrogate is insane. (Variety)
- Away We Godirector, Sam Mendes, will next work on the comic book adaptation, Preacher. The series told the story of a Texas preacher possessed by Genesis, a supernatural entity that is half angel, half demon. (SuperHeroHype)
