Over at USA Today they have gotten a hold of some exclusive photos from the upcoming film Sherlock Holmes. Featured in their article is a nice interview from the film’s creative forces and it’s stars.  Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law, and one of the film’s producers Joel Silver weigh in on the film and what we can expect when it’s released this Christmas. Guy Ritchie’s adaptation of the Arthur Conan Doyle classic is looking to set itself a part from it’s predecessors, while sticking with the familiar.

  • Guy Ritchie gives homeless man Emanuel (featured above) a role in his movie Sherlock Holmes.”Talent scouts spotted homeless Raymond Emanuel as he left a cinema where he had been sheltering from the cold. His distinguished looks created such an impression that he was asked to play an MP in Guy Ritchie’s movie of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s detective.” Lucky bastard. I mean, well done you! [The Mirror]
  • Josh Peck, the stoner kid from Wackness, says that he is involved in a passion project called Hearts of Men. “It’s a movie I read a year ago and fell in love with about three cats – one’s a white boy… They all witness the latino’s brother’s murder…The thing that draws them together is that they are all in love with Tupac.” Sounds, interesting. downeysherlock08 11 07 Sherlock Holmes: Details from the Set

Recently, a IESB reader called  “Jack the Ripper” revealed some new on-set information about the opening scene of Guy Ritchie’s new film Sherlock Holmes.

I’ve got some information about how the film will open before the credits roll.

The movie starts off in London (of course) and the year is 1891 with a night time chase overlayed with a narration by Mr. Watson.

Watson describes London as the capital of the world full of criminals and villainy. Funny, it reminds me of Mos Eisley. He also explains who he is.

Review: RocknRolla

2915221032 31eb0fb37d Review: RocknRollaThere’s a word for writer/director Guy Ritchie’s new film RocknRolla. Actually a few words come to mind. Most of them are derogatory so I’ll choose one that’s appropriate and won’t have to be edited. Disappointing!

The plot of this film centers around shady real estate deals, a prized but never actually seen painting, and some smash and grab monetary high jinks, all set up by a savvy accountant. True to this particular genre there’s the usual cast of characters. Including, but not limited too an Old school underworld boss, bumbling squad of street smart wise guys, and a new high roller who wants to take over the town; this time in the form of a ex Russian mafia turned businessman .With an easy to follow story and extraordinary cast of talented actors such as (Tom Wilkinson), (Thandie Newton), (Gerard Butler) and (Toby Kebbel), RocknRolla has everything it needs to succeed.
