We’re really beginning to think that Alfonso Cuaron’s latest film Gravity is cursed. Why won’t actors stay on board with the project? First Angelina Jolie was attached to the movie then she bailed, followed by Natalie Portman who also jumped ship, and through it all Downey held on for dear life as the male lead. Now according to a report from THR, he’s decided to leave the film as well.

Alfonso Cuaron’s upcoming film Gravity continues to have a hard time with casting. The biggest shake up to date has been the merry-go-round of actresses who have been attached to play the lead role. We’ve gone from Angelina Jolie to Natalie Portman to now Sandra Bullock. The one element of consistency came from the lead male actor, Robert Downey Jr. who now according to a report from Deadline, might be existing the project. Damn! Damn!! Damn!!!

Alfonso Cuarón has had nothing but bad luck with his developing space film, Gravity. The lead role has bounced from actress to actress, and it’s on the move again. Originally, the part was written with Angelina Jolie in mind but the actress opted not to take it, then Scarlett Johansson and Blake Lively were mentioned as possible replacements, before Natalie Portman agreed to star. Unfortunately, Portman is no longer attached and according to Deadline, Sandra Bullock might take her place.

Director Alfonso Cuaron and his son penned the screenplay for a sci-fi film called Gravity, which was supposed to be a star vehicle for Angelina Jolie. The production hit a snag when the actress passed not once but twice on the film leaving it without a female lead. Weeks ago there were rumors that Scarlett Johannson and Blake Lively were possible replacements, but according to THR, a suitable and talented actress might take over instead — Natalie Portman.

According to THR, Scarlett Johansson and Blake Lively are both up for the lead in the film but only one of them can walk away with the part (dun, dun, dun!). They’re duking it out for a chance to star opposite Robert Downey Jr. who’s currently attached. The project was previously set up as a vehicle for Angelina Jolie but when she opted out, the director began his search for another actress to fill her shoes.
