According to EW, Affleck is in talks to direct Argo, a political thriller that’s set up a Warner Bros through George Clooney and his producing partner Grant Heslov. Fox 2000 has closed a deal with Oscar winner George Clooney. According to Deadline, the actor will appear in the feature adaptation of the best selling crime book The Monster of Florence. The screenplay will be penned by Christopher McQuarrie and Nathan Alexander. The book was written by Douglas Preston, who also serves as the protagonist in the story.

George Clooney just can’t stay away from films about financial and political corruption can he? The actor and director has his eye on a feature adaptation of the stage play Enron, as in the Texas based energy company that found itself in a heap of trouble years ago due to its questionable “accounting practices.” A documentary based on the incident was released in 2005, and most recently a musical hit the stages of London. According to The Guardian, Clooney is ready to get on the bandwagon and bring a dramatized version of Enron to the big screen.

Ever since it was announced that Johnny Depp was going to play Tonto in Disney’s big screen adaptation of The Lone Ranger, we’ve said that they’ll need an actor like George Clooney or Brad Pitt to play the title character. Do you know why? Because it’s very hard to stick out on screen when you’re standing next to Depp and there are only a few men who have enough charisma and presence to hold their own regardless of the co-star. Obviously Depp is aware of this because he also has his eye on Clooney and Pitt for the role.

George Clooney might reunite with frequent collaborator Steven Soderbergh on a new project called The Man from U.N.C.L.E. Does that title sound familiar to you because it should. The film will be based on the 1960s television show of the same name that originally starred Robert Vaughn. According to The Playlist, Clooney might be interested in taking on the lead in the big screen adaptation.
