Denzel Washington will hit the big screen early next year in the post apocalyptic flick, The Book of Eli. The film is directed by the Hughes brothers and has an all star cast including the ridiculously talented Gary Oldman. Three new character banners have been released that feature Washington as Eli, Oldman as Carnegie, and Mila Kunis as the young apprentice, Solara.
A second extended trailer has been released for the Hughes brother’s epic, The Book of Eli. The film stars Denzel Washington as a post-apocalyptic hero in search of a mystical book that is rumored to have the answer to man’s salvation inside. While on his journey he comes across some pretty shady characters including a deliciously evil Gary Oldman.

One of the many press conferences we attended at Comic-Con was for the Book of Eli with Denzel Washington, Gary Oldman, Mila Kunis, and Directors Albert and Allen Hughes. Sadly, it’s very hard when transcribing which brother is which. In fact, even when watching the videos it’s hard to tell which twin is which, unless I look at the signs in front of them. Can’t one of them choose a different facial hair style or something?. I did my best, but some of the below might be swapped. ***Update: In a press conference with Gary Oldman who just commented on what he said earlier “I’ve said a lot, I’ve been a very naughty boy today…” Which leads me to believe that what he’s said is true. He didn’t say I shouldn’t have said that or that it wasn’t true. So apparently what’s below is true!***

Right now, I am sitting in the Warner Brothers panel at Comic-Con. So far, they have showed us some pretty cool clips, trailers, and had some interesting questions and answers. However, the most exciting bit of news came from the wonderful Gary Oldman who just revealed news about the release and production of the next Batman movie! We have yet to hear any confirmations about it, but apparently it’s in the works, with or without Nolan.

The movies for this upcoming holiday season are really trying to bring the little kid out in me. First with the The Princess and the Frog and now with A Christmas Carol. Carol is a CGI adaptation of the Charles Dickens literary classic with Jim Carrey starring as the heartless Ebenezer Scrooge. Robert Zemeckis is the director behind the piece, which looks like it will be a great addition to my holiday movie collection in the future. Over at the DVD-Forum.at, they’ve gotten a hold of a German poster promoting the film and it looks amazing!

What the hell is Commissioner Gordon doing hanging out with Tony Stark?! It’s blasphemy I say, blasphemy! Yesterday we reported that comedian Garry Shandling joined the cast of Iron Man 2 as Senator Stern. He has been seen on set in full costume in a shirt and tie, looking very political. For the most part people thought he would be starring as Stark’s father Howard, a role which was originally attached to Tim Robbins. Now, according to RopeofSilicon that honor may be going to Gary Oldman!
More casting news for the Denzel Washington futuristic epic, The Book of Eli. As previously reported Washington will play the lead in the Hughes Brothers project that co-stars Gary Oldman, Mila Kunis, Ray Stevenson and Jennifer Beals. A new mystical element has been added to the film as Irish actor Michael Gambon has just joined the cast. According to THR, “Gambon will play one half of a strangle couple that holds onto old traditions in the futuristic tale.”
Denzel Washington will be teaming up with a familiar face in his futuristic, epic The Book of Eli. Star of the Showtime series The L Word, and 80’s dance icon, Jennifer Beals has just signed on to star in the film, alongside Washington, Gary Oldman, Ray Stevenson and Mila Kunis. It’s been a while since Beals has hit the big screen in a major film production, but she’s back and in a big way!
