One, two Freddy’s coming for you. Three, four better lock your door. Five, six grab your crucifix. Seven, eight gonna stay up late. Nine, ten never sleep again! Jackie Earle Haley should get used to that tune since he’s taken on the role of horror icon, Freddy Krueger. The actor made an appearance at this year’s Comic-Con to promote the remake of 1984′s, A Nightmare on Elm Street. As usual, in person he’s the exact opposite of the sadistic characters he plays onscreen.

freddy New A Nightmare on Elm Street Poster!

Last week we debuted the first photo of Jackie Earle Haley as the infamous child killer Freddy Krueger in the remake of 1984′s A Nightmare on Elm Street. Today we have another visual treat for you in the form of the film’s first official poster. Once again Krueger’s face is shrouded in darkness and there’s not much to see. I really think the creators are trying to keep his face under wraps until the film’s opening nears. Even at the Warner Bros Comic-Con panel his face was obscure in all the footage that they showed. Hmm….

zz4d2272b11 Photo of Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy Krueger

It looks like the creators of the A Nightmare on Elm Street remake are trying to kick it old school. On MySpace, the first official photo of Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy Krueger has made its debut. It looks like an image from the original 1984 film, where Robert Englund portrayed the character. I’m surprised by this look, for some odd reason I thought it was going to be really campy. The first film was truly terrifying, while the sequels that followed became comical as time progressed. Maybe the remake will take us back to those scary roots. Too bad Jackie’s face is in shadow, but you can’t reveal everything at once!
