A story of left-turn plot twists just as interesting as anything in the film in question, the ongoing saga of who will and who won’t be directing Catching Fire (the sequel to the mega-successful The Hunger Games) looks to have finally reached its conclusion. And, like many endings to epic tales, it can’t quite live up to what came before it, and is something of a letdown.

Director Francis Lawrence (I Am Legend) and Will Smith might be teaming up for another film. According to Variety, Lawrence is to develop and direct, The City That Sailed, a story about a father and daughter that live on opposite sides of the Atlantic; their bond is strong enough to break off Manhattan from the U.S. and float across the Atlantic. Sweet or lame? I’m not sure yet.
The screenplay is to be rewritten by Brian Koppelman and David Levien. The City That Sailed was originally written by Andrew Niccol (Truman Show).

With the release of the new Friday the 13th set to hit theaters this weekend, New Line Cinema has fast tracked the production process for their revamp of Nightmare on Elm Street. According to THR, the studio has found a director for the project, and could start principal photography as early as this spring. Samuel Bayer has been attached to direct, and will be making his feature film debut with the remake.
