According to a report from Screen Rant, in the upcoming reboot he’s going to be 100% CGI. In other words, they’re going to do the same thing to him that they did to The Hulk, he’ll just be a different color and have a rougher exterior.

It’s no secret that John McClane will be back for another outlandish adventure in the well established Die Hard series. Early last month a screenwriter was hired to pen the script for the fifth installment, a follow up to 2007′s Live Free or Die Hard (that title still rubs me the wrong way). Super producer/director JJ Abrams will be making the jump from science fiction to crime thriller with his next project according to Variety. Paramount has acquired the rights to an upcoming Wired magazine article about a group of Italian diamond thieves. That’s right people, they don’t just adapt books anymore. Articles, notes, anything that’s not nailed down can get turned into a movie. Abrams will be producing the film through his popular Bad Robot production company, while Paramount will distribute.

Since the record breaking opening of The Dark Knight last July, there has been an invisible line drawn in the sand that separates the darker comic book movies from the lighter fare. For the past ten years studios have been shooting out comic based movies for the sole purpose of tapping into their lucrative fanboy audience. Films such as Spiderman, Fantastic Four, and X-Men all spawned sequels and big payday’s, but the films quality suffered as the franchises progressed.In the case of TDK, Christopher Nolan’s Batman series continued to get better by sticking close to it’s source material, and concentrating more on story than gimmicks.
