The second official trailer for Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds has just been released and it’s bloodier than ever! The film focuses on a group of Jewish-American soldiers under the command of Lt. Aldo Raine (Brad Pitt), who exact revenge on the Nazi regime during it’s occupation of WWII France. Basterds is written and directed by Tarantino, and is produced by the Weinstein Company.

Here’s another horror remake coming your way via our favorite “torture porn” director, Eli Roth. This year he’s spent the majority of his time promoting himself as an actor. He stars in the highly anticipated Quentin Tarantino film Inglourious Basterds, which will debut in theaters this August. There’s nothing wrong with a little diversity, but Roth definitely plans to return to his horror directing roots with his next couple of projects. According to Fangoria, Roth has his eye on remaking the 1981 Tobe Hooper film, The Funhouse.

The multi-talented Eli Roth who directed the campy horror films Cabin Fever, Hostel, and Hostel II has spent the last two years of his career beefing up his acting resume. Roth appears in Quentin Tarantino’s Grindhouse segment “Death Proof”, as well as his upcoming drama Inglourious Basterds. Roth recently sat down with MTV and spoke about getting back into the groove of writing and directing. He already has a feature in development and shared a little bit about it’s plot.

You have to give it to Quentin Tarantino, he doesn’t half ass anything. His upcoming Nazi drama Inglourious Basterds has had amazing marketing from day one, and now I’ve gotten a hold of some more promo shots for the film. The cast and director took some photos for Brigette Lacombe that are featured in the May issue of Vanity Fair magazine. The film has been described as “Pulp Fiction meets The Dirty Dozen meets The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, in Nazi-occupied France.” Speaking of France, it’s just been revealed that Basterds will show at this year’s Cannes Film Festival which typically takes place in the southern portion of the country . Inglourious Basterds will be released in theaters on August 21.

The promotional team behind Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming Nazi epic, Inglourious Basterds just stepped up their marketing game in my book. Three new posters have been released for the film and boy do they look good! Each image reads, “Once Upon a Time in Nazi Occupied France.” Nice tag-line to accompany such gritty images. Each poster features a blood soaked weapon of choice, including a rifle, a bat, and a knife. An awesome teaser trailer was released last week, and now we have these posters as a nice follow up. Inglourious Basterds stars stars Brad Pitt, Diane Kruger, Eli Roth, and B.J. Novak.
Inglourious Basterds is written and directed by Quentin Tarantino, and the film debuts in theaters on August 21 of this year.

You know the drill (pun intended). Equal parts rusty metal shop tools, sadistic use of those, grimy dark light locations and a budget under $10 million. Much has been made in the last year of the demise of this sub-genre, blaming everything from GITCMO to fan boredom. Saw V, the latest entry (reviewed here) opened this past weekend and may have something to say about an early diagnosis of death. With a greater than $30 MM opening weekend the patient seems very much alive.
Before deciding, though, let’s do an analysis. Take a look at the chart below:
