The major DVD Releases really run the gamut this week. There’s the mega-testosterone fueled thrill ride of The Expendables right alongside the estrogen-soaked introspection of Eat Pray Love. Something for everybody! Or the best argument yet for having two DVD players in the house. All that, plus a few indie films (including that infamous Joaquin Phoenix experiment) and a small smattering of TV on DVD.

Sly Stallone and his gang of bad-asses went head to head with Ms. Roberts and her plethora of food this weekend and America has decided with their dollars! The winner (by a fairly long-shot) is… BLOOD and GUNS over delectables and praying. Good to know what’s in your heart of hearts America! Sadly you still all picked the wrong movie. Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World seems to be pulling a Kick-Ass. Two great films, completely under-appreciate. Shame on you!

The Columbia Picture’s project stars America’s timeless sweetheart Ms. Julia Roberts alongside Viola Davis, Richard Jenkins, James Franco, and Javier Bardem, and was both adapted and directed by Ryan Murphy.

This week a lot of ass-kicking movies are hitting the theater including Scott Pilgrim vs the World and The Expendables. Pilgrim is based on the comic of the same name and stars Michael Cera as a guy who must defeat his girlfriend’s seven evil exes if he wants to continue dating her. It’s directed by Edgar Wright and is filled with colorful graphics, amped up fight scenes, and lots of comedy. On the grittier side we have Sylvester Stallone, and 90 percent of the world’s top action stars in The Expendables. It’s a film about “guns for hire” who try to take down a corrupt, South American dictator. It co-stars Stallone, Jason Statham and Jet Li.

The film is based on the popular novel of the same name and along with Roberts features a cast of Oscar winning and nominated actors. Billy Crudup is set to star in Eat, Pray, Love, opposite Julia Roberts, Javier Bardem and Richard Jenkins, reports Variety. Ryan Murphy will be at the helm of this film, which was originally taken from Elizabeth Gilbert’s bestselling memoir about an unhappy woman who embarks on a journey of self-discovery around the world. Crudup will play Gilbert’s (Roberts) husband Steven, who hopes to have children, but is later abandoned by his wife.

Hot off the heels of one of the most successful years of his career, Academy Award nominated actor Richard Jenkins has decided to eat, pray, and love. According to THR, Jenkins has signed on to co-star in the adaptation of Elizabeth Gilbert’s memoir. Eat, Pray, Love is being produced by Columbia Pictures, and Red Om Films. Jenkins will be starring opposite leading lady Julia Roberts in the feature that will be directed by Ryan Murphy.
