Over the past few years, Walt Disney Pictures has been teaming up with celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz to recreate some of their most iconic characters. They get Hollywood’s hottest stars and place them in scenarios from classic Disney films. Some of the previous photos they’ve done included Rachel Weisz as Snow White, Beyonce as Alice in Wonderland, and Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony as Princess Jasmine and Aladdin.

Tom Hanks and Tim Allen want to turn their big screen partnership into a live action feature. The duo have worked “together” on all three Toy Story films as Buzz Lightyear and the Cowboy Woody and now they’re ready for a new collaboration. According to Deadline, Hanks and Allen are looking to star in a family film called Jungle Cruise for, you guessed it, Disney.

Pirates of the Caribbean On Stranger Tides hasn’t hit theaters yet, but Disney already has plans for a follow up. According to Deadline, the studio has commissioned writer Terry Rossio to pen the yet to be titled sequel Pirates of the Caribbean 5. This news confirms the speculation that we’ve heard over the last few months about Stranger Tides marking the start of a new trilogy.

The 3D trend is showing no signs of slowing down with Walt Disney Pictures announcing their line up of the latest 3D home entertainment titles. The studio has 15 Blu-rays slated to hit stores this year including The Lion King, Tron Legacy, Tangled, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and Beauty and the Beast. Disney isn’t wasting any time with their plans for the revamped Pirates of the Caribbean series. Yesterday we learned that the first teaser trailer will debut online December 13 and in theaters attached to Tron Legacy. There’s also been word that a new trilogy is on the horizon and that On Stranger Tides is just the starting point. According to HitFix, the studio is slowly but surely gearing up for Pirates 5 and 6.

Earlier this week we learned that Disney Animation plans on throwing in the towel when it comes to their fairy tale movies. With the release of Tangled, they’re closing a chapter on the genre and choosing to concentrate on broader characters and stories. This is a sad, sad day for a lot of us considering how fairy tales and princess movies are what we grew up on.
