It’s a period piece that somehow maintains all the gratuitous, slapstick comedy that you’d find in modern day features like Pineapple Express. Green found a way to do it and he got James Franco (who also appeared in Pineapple Express), Natalie Portman, Danny McBride, and Zooey Deschanel to be a part of it.
