When you have a film with Sam Worthington, Helen Mirren, Tom Wilkinson, Ciaran Hinds, Jessica Chastain and Martin Csokas you expect it to hit theaters. When it’s directed by Shakespeare in Love‘s John Madden, and written by Mathew Vaughn and Jane Goldman it seems like something of a powehouse. And yet The Debt has sat around for at least a year. Festival screenings can kill anything. Though this may had to do with Miramax (the film’s home) being scuttled by Walt Disney studios. Take a look at the trailer…

The Rite is a horror-thriller that’s based on actual events that occurred between two priests in Rome. The film is directed by Mikael Håfström and stars Oscar winner Anthony Hopkins, and a young, Irish actor named Colin O’Donoghue. The duo are cast as an unlikely pair: the believer and the doubter, and as viewers we watch them fight a battle of spiritual warfare, while dealing with their own personal demons.

Just yesterday we learned that Idris Elba has acquired a multi-picture deal with Marvel Studios. The actor has already finished his stint in next year’s Thor, and has been rumored to tackle Luke Cage or Blade next. But according to a new report from THR, Elba along with actor Johnny Whitworth have both been tapped to star in Sony’s upcoming sequel Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance.

Well, you’ve got a lot going on in this poster. Aliens, psychedelic roads, witches, and The Rock. Although the trailer looks pretty cool, the films as a whole is directed at the pre-teen/early teen market, which makes it hard for me to get too excited. It looks like they’ve made a really expensive episode of “Heroes,” which means it will probably make bank, but won’t be breaking any new ground.
