April has been good to Quentin Tarantino fans. After a long drought of any new information or media related to the director’s upcoming take on the spaghetti western, Django Unchained, in recent weeks we’ve received both an official, Saul Bass-influenced poster, as well as an official plot summary. Now, we’ve got the first official pictures from the production, featuring Christoph Waltz and Jamie Foxx as the film’s heroes, and Leonardo DiCaprio as a villainous plantation and slave owner.

It’s been a big week for Quentin Tarantino fans—after a long dry spell of no new information from the set of the hotshot director’s newest film, the spaghetti western-influenced Django Unchained, this week has been a veritable free-for-all of new trivia by comparison. The trailer for the latest Roman Polanski film Carnage has hit, and it promises claustrophobia for its stars Jodie Foster, Kate Winslett, John C. Reilly and Christoph Waltz. The film – adapted from the play by Yasmina Riza – takes place in Foster and Reilly’s apartment one night when two sets of parents have a discussion about a violent incident that happened between their children, and it escalates from there. When last we talked about Quentin Tarantino‘s latest Django Unchained, Jamie Foxx was the odds-on frontrunner for the lead character. That is now locked up. CNN talked to Foxx recently, and he said the dull platitudes expected of someone up for a big role. “Amazing” Foxx says. It “should be amazing.” Well, duh. The money quote is that he seems to suggest that Leonardo DiCaprio is also a lock the project. “I think, just to be able to work with Quentin Tarantino and Samuel Jackson, Leonardo DiCaprio, and to be able to tell a story that needs to be told…”

Water for Elephants hits theaters this weekend with a whimper… Though the film stars the almost always successful box office champ Reese Witherspoon, the most powerful heartthrob of the moment Robert Pattinson, and one the most lovable baddies of the last decade Christoph Waltz, the film falls short because it never really focuses on it’s true star, Rosie the Elephant — the one we all came to see.
