Marvel has supposedly stepped out of the way, but there are rumors that The Avengers might show up. OK, so imagine this film: two Americans—one is a journalist, and the other is retired soldier—who join forces to rescue a kidnapping victim in Afghanistan. And Zack Snyder came up with it. And 300 screenwriter Kurt Johnstad wrote it. And the Christian Bale would play the reporter “who witnesses and is the only survivor of an attack on a group of Americans.” And Sean Penn now may play a retired Special Ops soldier who “comes to the scene determined to free a family member who has been kidnapped.” Translation: the most intense film ever made.

The winner of the 2011 Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor is Christian Bale for The Fighter. The actor portrayed the older brother to Mark Wahlberg in the drama. The actor started off his speech with “Bloody hell!” He also said that he wasn’t going to drop an F-bomb like Melissa Leo because he’s done enough of that in the past (in reference to his infamous leaked Terminator tape). He also gave a shout out to the real Dicky Ecklund who was in attendance.

Christian Bale is going on a diet — again. The British actor will reunite with the writer and director of 2004′s The Machinist for another film called Concrete Island. Brad Anderson will helm the film from a script by Scott Kosar that’s based on J.G. Ballard’s 1974 novel of the same name. Island will have the same star, director, writer, and dramatic weight loss that was featured in The Machinist. Deja vu anyone?
