Marvel wants to get you excited about their upcoming film The Avengers. Really excited, as much of the future of their cinematic empire rests on its success, and so prepare to be inundated with ads and trailers and such until it hits theaters on May 4. With less than four months to go until the launch of the The Avengers, we’re getting all sorts of stories, pictures and rumors about the film, which has a May 4 release date. Of late, Empire Magazine has had four character-specific covers, there’s hints at what the film’s Hulk might look like, and a completely baseless rumor about a possible Marvel franchise cross-over. Take a look….

What’s Your Number? is one of those films that in the sea of Rom-Coms you just won’t remember until you see it again on a plane in a years time. Despite hitting all the “right” moments, having a charming leading duo and a number of good supporting actors, the film is just so damn mediocre and the script, which is attempting to be pro-female, is about 1o years out of date. Sex and the City, Friend with Benefits (the other one just like it, No Strings Attached), and Bridesmaids have already pushed the boundaries so much further for woman, that this film just falls flat and gives you literally nothing new…

Marvel studios has been building to Joss Whedon‘s The Avengers since 2008, when Robert Downey Jr. and Samuel L. Jackson had an end credit scene that laid out the possibility of Tony Stark working with a team. Since then we’ve seen Chris Hemsworth cast as Thor, Scarlett Johansson cast as Black Widow, Chris Evans cast as Captain America, Jeremy Renner cast as Hawkeye, and Edward Norton cast as the Hulk. Six out of seven isn’t bad. All of The Avengers save Jackson grace the latest Entertainment weekly cover, and features the new Hulk Mark Ruffalo. Check out the cover….

Chris Evans channels a new kind of hero in the new indie-drama Puncture. The fantastic premise revolves around Evan’s character Mike Weiss, a highly-functioning drug addicted lawyer, and the 800,000 or so hospital workers who are accidentally pricked by medical syringes, a year. All of these things are based on reality, making this story hard to ignore. The film is directed by brothers Adam and Mark Kassen, and played at the 2011 Tribeca Film Festival. Evans was great as Captain America, but here’s a film carrying a great idea, that gives Evans the chance to play an antihero, and at the same time expose the corruption of the health care industry.

This summer has brought an onslaught of comic-book movies, but the tide has turned against them. From Thor to X-Men: First Class to The Green Lantern, none of these super-expensive movies have managed to crack $200 Million at the box office, the number Superman Returns made (and that was considered a failure). Partly it’s the films, partly it’s the characters – many of whom aren’t as well known as Batman and Superman. Enter Captain America: The First Avenger. It’s a relief to say it’s entertaining, and will hopefully buck the trend. Find out more below….

Having recently suffered the slings and arrows of outrageous reporting, Chris Evans would have good reason to be guarded when he talked about Captain America. Thankfully he wasn’t, and he comes off as a thoughtful and humble guy who has made his choices very carefully when it comes to his career. This film is a big step, and though you may have heard of him before, this is the first time he’s front and center in a franchise film. He’s an A-lister now, for better or worse. Take a look at our talk…

Can Captain America save the summer for superheroes? That’s the question now that we’re three comic-book movies in this summer. And for all the hype, none have performed to expectations. Thor started the summer and is doing Wolverine numbers, while X-Men: First Class and The Green Lantern have done underwhelming business. But maybe Chris Evans and Tommy Lee Jones will get the masses excited. Or maybe this new trailer. Check it out…

And it’s good! Paramount and Marvel studio’s Captain America: The First Avenger is one the big titles of the summer, and the Joe Johnston-directed, Chris Evans-starring film opens July 22, will be the last of summer’s four big superhero films. The trailer is mostly the set-up: Skinny Steve Rogers becomes a superhero through the tutelage of Tommy Lee Jones‘s Col. Chester Phillips, and the super-serum of Stanley Tucci’s Abraham Erskine to help fight the Nazis. Check it out…
