The loss of Gary Ross as a director of The Hunger Games sequels has been absolutely devastating for devoted fans of burgeoning franchise. As a rabid fan myself (and as a friend of many other rabid fans), I can’t even begin to tell you how crestfallen we are. Ross was truly one of us – an ardent admirer of the series who happened to also don a director’s cap. His respect for the source material was well known, which is why many supporters trusted him with Suzanne Collins’ words. Now, we’re all left scratching our heads and anxious about what’s to come.

Finding Joe is a scary documentary. Really scary if you’ve had any doubts about who you are, where you’re going, where you’ve been or how to start fresh. From first time feature-length director Patrick Takaya Solomon, Joe is a special brand of touchy-feely motivational cinema that gives you every reason in the world to call in sick, sell your belongings and head off into whatever direction the wind blows with nothing but a nap sack and a copy of Joseph Campbell’s The Masks of God. Last week we sat with a number of the filmmakers and actors of the latest tween adventure, Red Riding Hood (read review now). The film is based on the popular children’s story of the same name that centers on a young girl, who attempts to avoid a dangerous wolf while traveling to her grandmother’s house. Unfortunately, this version strays heavily from the source material and adds some extra sex appeal and gore. If this still sounds like something you’re interested in, check out the poster below…

Last week we saw some scans from Entertainment Weekly that featured Amanda Seyfried as the title character in Catherine Hardwicke’s latest film, Red Riding Hood. Yes, we’re talking about the same Catherine Hardwicke who directed the first Twilight movie but we shouldn’t hold that against her. Or should we? The first trailer for Red Riding Hood has been released and so has the official poster. Take a look…

Today at the press junket for Whip It, the novelist and screenwriter behind the film, Shauna Cross talked a little bit about her upcoming project which will involved the former Twilight director, Catherine Hardwicke. Last we heard, Hardwicke was working away on her new adaptation of Hamlet with Emile Hirsch. According to Cross, they’re already working on casting her film If I Stay, which means that they’re either casting really early or that Hardwicke is planning on sneaking in a little “Lovely Bones-esq” coma drama before she starts spouting sonnets.
Here’s what she had to say…
