So, that happened. With Brett Ratner‘s recent exodus at the Oscars, and Eddie Murphy quickly jetting as well, it was hard to know how fast it would be until someone was set up with the gig. And now we know it’s Brian Grazer who will be producing the award show to end all award shows, the 84th Academy awards.
According to Deadline, Ron Howard plans on doing the semi-impossible by adaptating Stephen King’s fantasy series, The Dark Tower. The director along with his producing partner Brian Grazer, Akiva Goldsman, and Universal Pictures are in the middle of a deal that will turn the 7 books into a theatrical trilogy and a possible TV series.

Basketball star Lebron James will soon be hitting the big screen in a feature film. According to Variety, James will co-star in a comedy entitled, Fantasy Basketball Camp. The film will be produced by Brian Grazer who knows a thing or two about ushering talent from one form of entertainment to another. He’s the one that backed Eminem in his 2002 hit, 8 Mile.
Gus van Sant is in negotiations to develop and direct Restless, an original screenplay by first-time screenwriter Jason Lew that will be produced by Brian Grazer, Ron Howard and Bryce Dallas Howard (THR).
It does seem like a rather “friendly” film, with the two Howards involved, and is only furthered when you realize that the screenwriter, Lew, went to college with Bryce Howard and the two acted in plays together.
Stretch Armstrong is an awesome guy. Growing up, my brothers and I would test the limits of the poor toy just to see what was inside. Obviously, I would be excited to hear of a movie about Stretch Armstrong. Universal Pictures and Hasbro, Inc. are teaming up to release the film. Producer, Brian Grazer (A Beautiful Mind) is working on the new project, along with screenwriter, Steve Oedekerk (Bruce Almighty).
The cast of Ridley Scott’s untitled Robin Hood project just got a whole lot bigger. According to THR, three actors have just been added to the film as the fabled Merry Men. Joining Russell Crowe’s crew will be Kevin Durand (Lost, X-Men Origins: Wolverine), Scott Grimes (ER, American Dad), and Alan Doyle the lead singer of the Canadian band Great Big Sea. Besides Crowe, the trio will be joining Oscar winner Cate Blanchett as the lovely Maid Marian. Find out more about the Merry Men after the jump.
