A low budget genre blend featuring Brandon Routh as a paranormal investigator, Dylan Dog: Dead of Night loosely adapts Tiziano Sclavi’s Italian comic books to the big screen. Trivia note: this is the first adaptation, though Sclavi was a screenwriter on Cemetery Man, which starred Rupert Everett (who Sclavi used as his model for the character Dylan Dog). How does Dylan do in his first American outing?

Brandon Routh and Sam Huntington met on the set of Superman Returns and have since become friends. It shows in their latest film Dylan Dog: Dead of Night. The two have chemistry together, and Routh’s more dry and reserved style works well against Huntington’s energy. It also shows in person – when talking the two bounce off each other in telling ways. It’s strange that a casting announcement regarding Brandon Routh has been made right after Warner Bros revealed the director for their Superman reboot. We’re sure one doesn’t have anything to do with the other, right? Director Zack Snyder all but said that he doesn’t think Routh will be asked back for the new film, but the man’s gotta eat. According to The Wrap, Routh has just joined the cast of the indie drama, Missing William.

Now the dust has settled, we should all be used to the fact that Zack Snyder will direct the next Superman. There are a lot of high hopes for this project considering the Man of Steel’s track record hasn’t been the best as of late. The last time we saw the character on the big screen was in 2006′s Superman Returns which was directed by Bryan Singer and starred Brandon Routh. Routh has expressed openly that he’d love to reprise his role in the new film but Snyder doesn’t think that’s going to happen.

During a recent interview with UGO Movie Blog, about his upcoming WWII thriller Valkyrie, Bryan Singer shed some light on his involvement, or lack there of in, Superman: The Man of Steel. It sounds like Singer has got himself caught between a rock and a hard place, he’s not a part of the film and yet he is attached via his 2006 film deal with the studio.
That is to say although he is not “officially involved in the talks,” Singer is “not divorced” from it either – aka Bryan won’t be directly involved but will be paid regardless thanks to the expensive “Pay or Play” deal he inked with the studio back in October ‘06.
