Worried that the adaptation of Seth-Grahame Smith’s novel about our 16th president’s lifelong quest for vengeance after his mother is murdered by vampires would be toned down for the big screen? Well, worry no further, as Timur Bekmambetov’s cinematic take on the nutty Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is drenched with blood, vicious axe-play, and undead beheadings. With a title like Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, you kind of know what to expect when you watch one of the insane trailers for the film here, here and here, or, in today’s case, when you check out the featurette with Timur Bekmambetov, producer Tim Burton and writer Seth Grahame-Smith discussing the film while footage of our 16th president murdering vampires plays on (see it after the jump). That said, while there may not be many surprises here, there is a ridiculous sense of fun while watching Honest Abe take an axe to the undead.

In what has to be the most deranged teaser you’re likely to see in all of 2012, the new clip for Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter finds our 16th president, the Illinois Rail Splitter, fighting legions of vampires while leaping around with an axe and CGI abandon. You almost want to dislike it, but the sheer, gleeful insanity of it all makes it hard to suppress an amused smirk at the berserk proceedings.

A couple weeks ago a shortlist was released of the actors in the running for the Tim Burton produced flick Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. The talents included Adrien Brody, Josh Lucas, Timothy Olyphant, James D’Arcy, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, and stage vet Benjamin Walker. Last night, the role was finally cast and went to the least known out of the bunch — Walker!

No, we’re not talking about for the long awaited Steven Spielberg biopic (Daniel Day-Lewis got that job), we’re referring to the campy Tim Burton produced horror flick, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. We can officially throw another log on the X-Men First Class fire with this latest casting addition. According to Showbiz411, Benjamin Walker has signed on to star in the pivotal and furry role of Henry “Hank” McCoy in the film. He’ll be joining James McAvoy who’ll play the younger version of Professor Charles Xavier.
