UPDATE: The directors now claim they were joking and taken out of context. Read the details after the jump.
Thanks to the success of their Harold and Kumar franchise, as well as the fair-to-solid buzz surrounding their newest film, American Reunion, that’s set to hit theaters next week, writer/ directors Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg have signed a deal with Universal Pictures that “allows them shuffle through Universal’s vast library of films and remake or re-imagine films that pique their interest.” One franchise they’d like to reboot? Perhaps as some kind of consolation for the fact that we still live in a world that lacks flying cars, instant pizza, floating upside down Crispin Glover replacements, and Jaws 19 in holographic 3-D, toy manufacturers Mattel have decided to ease our postmodern ennui and finally give us something Back to the Future II promised us 23 years ago—hoverboards.

A pretty solid week on DVD headlined by the super-anticipated Blu-Ray release of the original (I say that trying to jinx the inevitable remake) Back to the Future trilogy.
But if 80s movies aren’t your thing there’s still plenty of new movies to float your boat with a pretty broad range. Sex and the City 2 is perfect for the more mainstream blockbuster crowd. Winter’s Bone is all set for everybody outside of New York and Los Angeles who want to catch an Oscar contender before it blows up the precursor circuits but didn’t get the chance in theaters. Check it all out below…

At the time, the red haired stud Eric Stoltz was chosen to play the lead role of Marty McFly, but something about him wasn’t right. Something was off. Take a look…

After weeks of promotion, the first trailer for the re-release of the 1985 comedy Back to the Future has hit the net. The film was directed by Robert Zemeckis (when he liked working with real people and sets) back on July 3, 1985. It’s a cult classic that made Michael J Fox a household name and Christopher Lloyd’s Dr. Emmett Brown one of the most popular contemporary characters in cinema. AMC Theatres has just debuted the new trailer for the anniversary screenings that are set to take place later next month. Check it out…

There’s no such thing as too little, too late because Hollywood is about to capitalize on a couple of film franchises that started over 15 years ago. Were you one of the many kids obsessed with Back to the Future, Doc Brown, and the DeLorean? What about the prehistoric world that Steven Spielberg created in Jurassic Park? If you said yes to all of thee above, get ready for a video game adaptation of both.

Like most eighties babies, the Back to the Future franchise was an active part of our childhood but thanks to the magic of YouTube and people who have nothing but free time on their hands one of our favorite films has been tainted forever. A fan noticed some odd behavior in one of the ending scenes of Back to the Future 3 that featured Doc Brown, the introduction of two little boys and one of them, well, just see for yourself…
