Ang Lee is definitely not a Director that sticks to one genre of film. From Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, to Brokeback Mountain, he’s known for one thing, making great movies about absolutely anything he wants. Taking Woodstock is based off a novel by Elliot Tiber and was inspired by a true story about a young man, who while trying to keep his parents’ motel alive inadvertently set in motion the largest generation-defining concert of all time in the summer of 1969. The screenplay was adapetd by James Schamus the same writer who paired with Lee on Lust, Caution, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon and Hulk. All of which were amazing films (yes I loved Hulk, you may now commence the whining).
The film has a variety of talent in it including comedian Demetri Martin as the lead, Paul Dano, Liev Schreiber, Emile Hirsch, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan.

Now we’re all well aware of the danger when translating a fantastic novel to film, but Ang Lee seems like a culturally responsible choice to direct a Fox 2000 adaptation of Yann Martel‘s “Life of Pi.”
The book recounts the journey of an Indian youth who is the sole survivor of a shipwreck in the Pacific, but by some chance ends up sharing his lifeboat with a hyena, and injured zebra, an orangutan and a famished Bengal tiger. Sounds like a Noah’s Ark spin off, but it’s got a spiritually holistic edge that reaches across various cultural philosophies.
