It seems like every day there’s been a new bit of media released to promote The Avengers, The Dark Knight Rises, The Amazing Spider-Man, or Prometheus as the Big Summer Film of 2012. Today, it’s once again Prometheus’ turn, with Entertainment Weekly releasing 17—count ‘em, 17!—new photos from the filming of Prometheus. The shots feature character portraits, behind the scenes shooting, alien landscapes, spacesuits, and repeated shots of a haunted and haggard crew.

Welcome to the exact moment when Ridley Scott’s upcoming Prometheus ceased to be the ambiguous sci-fi mystery of the summer, and revealed just about every possible plot spoiler pertaining to its Alien prequel-dom that it seemingly possibly could. Ridley Scott’s Prometheus is currently running neck and neck (or space helmet and bat-cowl, if you like) with The Dark Knight Rises for the title of Most Mysterious Action Film of Summer 2012. More and more plot elements, both leaked and featured in the excellently spooky trailer, indicate that Prometheus is a full-on prequel to Scott’s 1979 sci-fi horror classic, Alien…and a newly released Prometheus viral ad posing as an android infomercial, only serves to strengthen the connection to the original Alien.

There have been rumors and speculation running around about a new Aliens movie and Ridley Scott to direct the new film. Now Tom Rothman is feeding more to the rumor fire. When asked about Ridley Scott to possibly direct a new Aliens film, Rothman stated:
“I think he’s toying with the idea… and that would be great for us. It’s always been a matter of, really, if you could get the originator to do it… So we have our fingers crossed.”
That isn’t especially specific, or much more than speculation, but it is enough to get some people pumped up. If this project does happen, it equals box office gold for Fox Studios.

The Super Bowl is almost here, and that means a sneak peek at select trailers, and previews from the biggest films of 2009. According to LatinoReview, some of the years most highly anticipated movies have been confirmed to air exclusive promos during the game.
Films confirmed for Super Bowl ad time include, Star Trek, Angels and Demons, Monsters vs. Aliens, Land of the Lost, Fast and Furious , and Up. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, and G.I. Joe will also make their debuts during the game, giving us our first peek at some live action footage!

People are going nuts over the trailer for the new Star Trek film by director J.J. Abrams. (Set to release May 8, 2009.) The inspired casting of Zachary Quinto (from Heroes) as Spock has been almost as buzzed about as the film itself. Mr. Spock (originally played by Leonard Nimoy, who will reprise his role as the older Spock in the film) is one of the most beloved characters in Sci Fi and definitely the most beloved Vulcan. One thing is for certain, we love our aliens.
