The loss of Gary Ross as a director of The Hunger Games sequels has been absolutely devastating for devoted fans of burgeoning franchise. As a rabid fan myself (and as a friend of many other rabid fans), I can’t even begin to tell you how crestfallen we are. Ross was truly one of us – an ardent admirer of the series who happened to also don a director’s cap. His respect for the source material was well known, which is why many supporters trusted him with Suzanne Collins’ words. Now, we’re all left scratching our heads and anxious about what’s to come.

According to Coming Soon, George Clooney will star opposite fellow Oscar winner Sandra Bullock in the sci-fi film that’s gone through more actors than we can count!

It’s the battle of superhero vixens for a role in Alfonso Cuaron’s upcoming film Gravity. According to THR, Scarlett Johansson and Blake Lively are both up for the lead in the film but only one of them can walk away with the part (dun, dun, dun!). They’re duking it out for a chance to star opposite Robert Downey Jr. who’s currently attached. The project was previously set up as a vehicle for Angelina Jolie but when she opted out, the director began his search for another actress to fill her shoes.

A few weeks ago, we learned that Angelina Jolie had no desire to star in a sequel to the 2008 film Wanted because she was interested in a project by Alfonso Cuaron entitled, Gravity. It seemed like a promising film for the versatile actress but it wasn’t meant to be. She’s no longer attached and according to Deadline Hollywood, Robert Downey Jr. is in talks to star instead.
