Early-year comedies are out in full force this week as I Love You Man and 17 Again hit the shelves alongside a nominee for Best Foreign Language Film in The Class.
Plus, there’s some TV on DVD entries, a collection of every Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie and the three worst DVD’s of the week. What more could we expect!?

Surprise, surprise, the tweens rule the world. Zac Efron’s baby blues were just too much for the public to resist (or was it Matthew Perry’s… something?). Apparently there’s only room for one teen-star in a weekend, as Hannah Montana’s audience basically abandoned her for Efron. Not even Russel Crowe could pull in Efron’s numbers despite his ability to actually act in an interesting film.
As for the two most offensive movies on the list, Crank 2: High Voltage and Observe and Report, neither of them seem to be winning over audiences. Crank 2, did not manage to beat it’s predecessor Crank, in its return to theaters. (Maybe that’s because they didn’t allow press to screen the film and write review? Just a thought!) And apparently people only want to see Seth Rogen soft and cuddly, not violent and pathetic.
The only film that really seems the be holding strong is Monsters vs. Aliens. It’s held on to it’s number three spot for weeks now. Nothing better then a good animation!

Alright, so we know what is being released this weekend: State of Play, Crank: High Voltage, 17 Again, Is Anybody There?, Every Little Step, and Sleep Dealer. The last three are limited releases and therefore will not make as much money as the others. And these films are still battling against previous releases, such as, Fast and Furious and Monsters vs. Aliens (which has grossed $251.8 million so far).
It was just reported by Variety that:
Warner Bros.’ Zac Efron pic “17 Again” is expected to come in leaps and bounds ahead of other titles thanks to girls of all ages. Last weekend, this same demo turned out by the millions for “Hannah Montana: The Movie,” which opened to a sizable $32.3 million.
The predictions for this weekend is rather upsetting, and I’ll tell you why…

This weekend there are quite a few movie releases. The new Russell Crowe new political thriller, State of Play, hits theaters. All Disney fans have reason to rejoice the week; Zac Efron’s new movie, 17 Again, hits theaters. I don’t know why, but I’m really curious to see how this movie does. Is Zac Efron able to really hold a movie? We shall see. Every Little Step has been received fairly well by the critics. The film is a documentary about the history of the popular Broadway show, A Chorus Line. Is Anybody There? is a hysterical, moving film, starring Sir Michael Caine, about a man forced into an old folk’s home and the unlikely friendship he develops. Take a look at the full list of movies below.
Here are the movies for the week of April 17…
