There have not been any movies that come out without an accompanying set of poster to promote them. A movie benefits greatly from a series of posters that helps with the marketing of that movie as a product to sell. However, despite the major part it plays, a movie poster is not always effective in doing its job. Some posters are a hit; others do not fare very well in this regard. This time around, here is served a look at some of the biggest movies’ posters ever come out. For the sake of simplicity, the movies included here are from 2017.
The poster to the movie “The Hitman’s Bodyguard” is perhaps even more interesting than the content itself. While the movie saw lukewarm reviews from critics alike, the poster itself is funny enough to incite a laugh or two. The scene depicted on the poster was a homage (or a parody, rather) to the 1992 hit “The Bodyguard” poster. Samuel L. Jackson is featured as Whitney Houston while Ryan Reynolds assumes the role Kevin Costner played. The poster to the movie “The Beguiled” (directed by Sophia Coppola) was a bold departure from the 1971 movie of the same name it was a remake of. The new movie eliminated the male actor from its poster while the old movie’s poster featured Clint Eastwood front and center.

“The Void” movie poster is a simple display of the movie’s actual content. While the movie itself was not all that brilliant, the poster is impressive in itself and a callback to Stanley Kubrick’s A Clockwork Orange. “Split”, by M. Night Shyamalan, makes use of Hitchcock-like silhouette for a greater and simplistic impact. The poster looks a bit more like that of Vertigo. “The Florida Project” has a palette that is candy-colored and the poster reflects this very much.
