Grief is an inherent part of life. As such, it makes for great subject matter to explore on the screen. To lose someone is one definite thing that will befall anyone walking on this globe. Something or, rather, someone you love would leave you and grief is a logical consequence of that. “Sorry for Your Loss” is presented with that premise as its basis. It is a new series whose stories revolve around how the character copes with grief and how she could move on with her life. It features Elizabeth Olsen, who is also its executive producer, in the role of Leigh Shaw. Leigh’s husband has just died unexpectedly and the series chronicles her process to pick herself up and start anew.
The show is claimed to be as devastating as it is uplifting. Characters are grounded and full of flaws, depicted in their process of finding humor anywhere they come across. The show tackles grief as its primary subject matter, something that cannot be avoided, transformative, and universal. It goes on to tell us viewers that grief should never be taken as something to cope up with and endure but as a natural part of life itself.

“Sorry for Your Loss” will premiere on Tuesday, September 18th, 2018 on Facebook Watch. At first, four new episodes will be premiered at once and two new episodes will drop every Tuesday. The show is created and written by Kit Steinkellner (a playwright for Z: The Beginning of Everything). James Pondsoldt (of Now) executive produces the show and directs some of the show’s episodes. Kelly Marie Tran (of Star Wars: The Last Jedi fame) stars alongside Olsen, Janet McTeer (Jessica Jones), Mamoudou Athie (The Get Down), and Jovan Adepo (Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan). Before heading to Facebook Watch, the show is going to premiere at the Toronto Film Festival.
