sam raimi photograph Poll: Was Sam Raimi Wrong for Leaving Spider Man?

Besides Tobey Maguire, Sam Raimi has been the face of the Spider-Man franchise for the past eight years and yesterday his relationship with it came to an end. Sony Pictures announced that they were no longer interested in pursuing Spider-Man 4 or Raimi’s take on the webslinging character. They have decided to reboot the franchise and start with a younger, more contemporary Peter Parker.

Even though it sounds like Raimi was fired from the movie, he actually left before the official announcement was made. He didn’t feel that he could make the 2011 release date the studio set, due to the creative issues that continued to pop up. In the end he quit, and Sony decided to start from scratch without him. Should he have stuck it out until he got fired? Do you think it’s right for them to can the whole project?

Vote it our poll and let us know how you feel about Raimi’s decision to walk away…

avatar09 12 15 Avatar Polls: Expectations and Accents

So now that you’ve had the chance to see James Cameron‘s self-proclaimed masterpiece Avatar starring Sam Worthington (who had an American accent for most of the film), Zoe Saldana, and Sigourney Weaver, what did you think? As you can tell from my review, I thought it was as epic as it needed to be, but still had a number of problems.

The hype for this film was so intense that it’s hard to imagine anything living up to it. Cameron himself commented on the fact that the buzz might actually be the films greatest downfall. Can anything live up to the expectations fans had for it?

alicemagtop Is Alice Making a Return To Wonderland?

This morning the new trailer for Disney’s Alice in Wonderland was released, and it gave us an eyeful of what we can expect from the movie. When word spread that Tim Burton was making a live action adaptation of the children’s book everyone automatically assumed it was going to be another remake of the old story, but it’s turning out to be the exact opposite.

New Moon Poll: Ready to Swap from Edward to Jacob?

edward jacob09 11 8 New Moon Poll: Ready to Swap from Edward to Jacob?

Personally, I think that Taylor Lautner and his darling abs were completely exploited in New Moon, that being said, his body wasn’t the only thing to develop from the first to second film, so did his acting. I was as surprised as the next non-Twilighter to see that Lautner actually does the best anyone could have done with the role and in a way, wins over the audience.

After Twilight, girls were melting for Robert Pattinson as Edward, but something tells me that after New Moon, there are going to be a lot of fans swapping over to Team Jacob. For many people watching, the choice that Bella has to make between Edward and Jacob seems like an easy one, Jacob is gorgeous, sweet, takes care of her, why the hell would you go chasing after some other douchebag that left you for no good reason?

So, for those of you who lined up and have seen the movie, who won you over in New Moon?

Picture 4 Poll: What Will Your Family See On Thanksgiving?

The films being served up for the 2009 holiday season really are a mixed bag. They include everything from a heavy CGI based Christmas classic to a drama about the casualties of the Iraq war. For those of you who have had a chance to see Robert Zemeckis‘ latest motion-capture film A Christmas Carol starring Jim Carrey as Scrooge, Jim Carrey as The Ghost of Christmas Past, Jim Carrey as the Ghost of Christmas Present, and Jim Carrey as the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come, what did you think about the choice to use the same actor four times over? Poll: Should DirectTV Use Dead Celebs in Their Ads?

ledger Poll: Should DirectTV Use Dead Celebs in Their Ads?

When DirectTV first started airing television ads that featured actors reprising famous film roles and breaking the fourth wall it seemed like a cool concept. Especially, when someone like Sigourney Weaver would step back into the shoes of a character like Ellen Ripley 20 years after the fact. Since the beginning of this campaign, two controversial commercials have been produced by the company that include actors who have died way before their time.

One featured the young actress Heather O’Rourke who starred in the horror hit, Poltergeist and most recently the late Chris Farley appeared opposite David Spade in a recreation of a scene from their 1995 hit, Tommy Boy. Some people found the use of their images for the commercials in bad taste, especially when you look at the circumstances of their deaths. This has raised the question of how far is too far? Should DirectTV use dead celebrities in their ads?

Take a look at a few of the possibilities…
