Today happens to be a day that ends with a “Y” so you know what that means—an news item about a movie studio with plans to remake a film or to reboot an old TV show as a film. And lo, today you get both, as Warner Bros. is now hard at work on rebooting the Scooby-Doo film franchise, itself based on the animated TV series.
Warner Bros. has hired newcomer Randall Green to pen the thing, which, at this point, could be either live action, animated, or a combination of the two.
12 years ago, the Scooby-Doo live action film scored nearly $300 million in worldwide box office receipts; however, its sequel, Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed didn’t do quite as well, making nearly $100 million less. So what’s that mean? Reboot, reboot, REBOOT. Right?
